Rubric Assessment - No Submission or "On Paper/In Class" Option

Sometimes we assign work that does not require a submission but needs to be graded (like a presentation or participation or, in my case, an article to be published n the student newspaper). I'd like to see a box added that we could click that would still allow us to grade the assignment without the students having to submit anything. At this time, if students don't submit anything, it appears as "Missing," and this really bothers some students and can confuse parents.

Hello! As of last night’s release, students are allowed to submit rubric assessments without having to attach a submission. (It will still notify them that they haven’t attached anything before they confirm submission, just in case it’s a mistake.) Completing this is to get us a step closer to this request: Allowing teachers to submit assessments on a student’s behalf (https://otus.canny.io/feature-requests/p/assessments-teacher-submit-on-students-behalf)

Rubric Assessment - Submit with No Attachments

My students say that they are not able to submit a rubric assessment unless they attach something or add a link. My assessments are hosted on a different website and do not require any kind of upload to Otus. Please make it so that "Submit Assessment" is enabled without an attachment.

Thank you for submitting! I'm wondering if creating a "Plus" Assessment in the Gradebook might meet your need for a grade that doesn't require a submission. If you take a look at the section titled "Plus (+)" in the following article, it will give more info: https://help.otus.com/en/articles/3459713-overview-assessment-types

Stephanie Baeza, UX Researcher: I would also like to see a "No Submission" option or an "On Paper/In Class" option. The "Plus" Assessment isn't a great alternative because it has extremely limited capabilities. For example, teachers can't add comments, nor can they mark something missing or late.

Amanda Von Der Lohe: I agree! It would be better to be able to design an entire assessment with the assessment features and select what type of file students turn in (including "No Submission").

Amanda Von Der Lohe: Yes! We absolutely need this. The "On Paper/ In Class" would clear up confusion for students and parents.

Stephanie Baeza, UX Researcher: I agree with what everyone else has submitted. I tried the Plus assessment option, and it's still a little clunky, especially on the students' end. It would be nice for students and parents to be able to clearly see a "No submission" option.
