This would allow you to assign summative to students but they can only access it based on the code you give them at the time you want it to be given. Similar to how the ACT tests work

Availability windows are great, but can be overwhelming for teachers. If a password is created for the test, it can be set up beforehand. If teachers are doing a quick review or bell ringer before the test, they can't always predict the exact minute an availability window should open. Passwords would be easier to manage and provide for less distraction/busyness in the classroom the day of testing.

Assessment - Access Code

Can Otus provide a feature where students are able to access the assessment by using an access code? This would be one more way to keep assessments valid and prevent students from accessing the assessment if they are not in the class.

We agree that password functionality for Assessments would be a huge benefit to both students & teachers.

A password would allow teachers more flexibility when students need additional time, accommodations, are absent, or the many other things that happen that require students to take the assessment outside of the scheduled time.

So glad to see this request. This would be much more user friendly that setting availability windows for assessments. Many teachers have made this request.

Angie Wright & Leah Gintz: Thanks for sharing the additional comments! To make sure I'm understanding correctly: you'd want to utilize a password in order to allow just a student or two to continue working on an assessment beyond the availability window. Is that a good summary? I'm also curious about 1) what steps do you take now when you run into that scenario, 2) have you experienced this feature in other platforms, and 3) would you have any concerns about a student sharing a password if you really only want to allow that particular student the additional availability?

Stephanie Baeza, UX Researcher: Hi, Stephanie! We are new to Otus assessments so we are working through how this will work best for us. Teachers want to be able to set the password for the assessment so students need to enter it in before students get to the test. Currently we are working through setting an additional availability window, however this is cumbersome when it comes to students who need additional time because of accommodations or when students are absent. I have used this feature in Moodle. It added the level of security we needed, without making it unnecessarily cumbersome for teachers to navigate. We understand the password could get shared by students and will have to work through that when it happens. I hope this helps.

Stephanie Baeza, UX Researcher: I used a feature like this on Canvas in another school district. It was great because you could set a different password for each class. You could even change the password to the assessment after everyone has taken the test so those students that were absent couldn't log in at home!

Thanks for submitting this request, Jason! Can you tell me a little more about your goal in setting a password for your students? It might be similar to how other teachers set Availability Windows for their Otus assessments so that students don't work on something ahead of time.
